HPT HiToms Announce Post 87 Continuation

High Point/Thomasville – The High Point-Thomasville HiToms have announced that the Post 87 HiToms program will continue this summer. Although not affiliated with American Legion baseball due to the suspension of 2020 Legion play by the national and state offices, the P 87 HiToms will take the field when state and local guidelines are revised.

Assisting in the creation of the NC 3 American Baseball League, the P 87 HiToms will join forces to play with other historical, Area 3 American Legion programs this summer. In addition to a regular season, the NC 3 Baseball League has formulated plans to provide an All-Star Classic and a championship playoff round.

"Our focus is always on providing opportunity for our HPT area student-athletes," P87 HiToms Athletic Director Greg Suire said. "On a daily basis, we encourage and challenge our players to be leaders, so in a crisis like this, we have to demonstrate this commitment to march on. Serving others is in the HiTom DNA, and our young people need this mental and physical fitness exercise, and we intend to show them the way"

The NC 3 Baseball League will follow all directives and executive orders established by the state of North Carolina. Thus, on May 15 the NC 3 Baseball League will announce if the projected start date of June 1st will commence. If there is a state exclusion still in place on May 15, the NC 3 Baseball League will delay it next announcement to June 1st with a potential start date of June 15th.

The NC 3 Baseball League will monitor all state guidelines on a daily basis following May 15 with all start dates after June 15 in a fluid decision process.

League membership will be officially announced by the end of April.
