The HiToms kept both games close on Thursday night, but just fell short at Forest City dropping both contests at McNair Field.
In Game 1, HPT took a 1-0 lead into the sixth inning after an Anthony Cuozzi (UNC Asheville) RBI single, but an Owls rally in the bottom half of the frame gave Forest City the lead.
Luke Davis (Louisburg) went 5 2/3 innings for the Toms, striking out six while keeping the HiToms within reach.
The second contest of the twin-bill saw the HiToms and Owls play a scoreless first 4 ½ innings before Forest City unloaded for four runs to take a 4-0 lead.
HPT made it interesting in the seventh, as Christian Dumont (Houston Baptist) drove in Luke Hancock (Mississippi State) to get the Toms on the board. But with runners on first and third, the Owls were able to force a pop-up to end the game and secure the sweep.
The HiToms will travel back to Finch Field and host division foe Asheboro on Friday night. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
