North Carolina's Angel Zarate has been named the Coastal Plain League's Hitter of the Week for the week of June 22- June 29.
Zarate finished his week with a .429 average in 28 at-bats. He posted a massive home run that travelled more than 450 feet, five doubles, and seven RBIs. The redshirt freshman also recorded a .448 on-base percentage and a .714 slugging percentage.
The outfielder has been a pivotal part of the HiToms order since joining the the team on June 20. Zarate has hit safely in all 12 games in which he's appeared and has recorded multiple hits in 9 of those 12 games.
The Reidsville native has now added two more home runs to his tally on the season in his last two games. Zarate's current stat line on the season: .429 BA, 3 HR, 12 RBI, 13 R, and 2 SB in 56 at-bats.
Zarate will look to stay hot as the HiToms resume Coastal Plain League play Wednesday at J.P. Riddle Stadium against the Fayetteville SwampDogs before HPT returns home to Finch Field for the 4th of July with another matchup against Fayetteville.
