HiToms can’t get bats going in 5-1 loss at Forest City

The HiToms were held to just four hits, and couldn't recover from an early deficit as they fell 5-1 to the Forest City Owls at McNair Field on Monday night. Noah Davis started for HPT, going five innings while allowing two earned runs and striking out seven. Eli Boles and Rian Haire came on in relief, with Boles throwing two scoreless innings and Haire allowing a lone unearned run.

Forest City got the scoring started as Jake Lyle hit a two-run homer over the wall in left field. They would add a run each in the second and third innings, as a wild pitch and fielding error each allowed a run across for the Owls.

HPT would strike for their only run in the top of the fifth inning, as Danny Lynch drove in Drew Smith on a sacrifice fly.

The HiToms travel to Asheboro Tuesday with first pitch set for 7:05. They'll host Lexington County on Wednesday and Forest City on Thursday. Join the HiToms at Finch Field on Wednesday for our rescheduled Bark in the Park Night, as well as our weekly Shuler Meats Dollar Night. Thursday's game will feature a pregame concert presented by the 3 Heath Brothers. Gates will open at 5:30 and the concert begins for 5:45.
