High Point-Thomasville fell to the Martinsville Mustangs in both games of a doubleheader on the road Monday night. The HiToms dropped game one 9-2 and lost game two 5-2.
Martinsville got the jump on the HiToms in game one, scoring three runs in the bottom of the 1st to take a lead they would never relinquish. The Mustangs pushed across four more runs in the bottom of the 4th to take a commanding 7-0.
HPT pushed across a run apiece in the 6th and 7th innings. Wingate's Myles Rohleder finished with the only RBI for the HiToms in the game - the team finished with six hits.
In game two, the HiToms got off to a better start despite Martinsville scoring one run in the bottom of the 1st. HPT scored both its run in the top of the 2nd after Myles Rohleder and Colin Fowich each scored on wild pitches.
The Mustangs responded quickly though, tallying one run in the bottom of the 2nd and three more in the 3rd to cement the final score at 5-2.
Martinsville improved to 2-2 in Coastal Plain League play with the sweep, while High Point-Thomasville fell to 0-4.
