After an emotional night thanks to a walkoff win, the HiToms needed to retain their focus for a divisional game against rival Forest City.
And after falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, the HiToms wasted no time and got the run right back to tie things up at 1 thanks to a Sam Taylor triple and a Myles Christian RBI ground out. That run would be indicative of HPT's scoring on this night, as not a single ball left Finch Field off the bats of the league leaders in home runs.
HPT's offensive power would continue into the second, with Zach McLean returning to the lineup for the first time after the All Star break with a bang, smacking a line drive double, eventually scoring thanks to yet another E.P. Reese base hit. Reed Massey also returned to the lineup with a statement, lacing an RBI double that scored Reese.
The HiToms pitching staff kept the Owls' bats quiet as well. Despite allowing 2 home runs as a staff, starter Eli Boles and relievers Burl Carraway and Josh Nifong dominated the high-powered offense, striking out 15 and allowing just 4 hits.
Sam Taylor: 2-4, 3B, 2 R
Austin Pharr: 2-4, 2 R
E.P. Reese: 3-4, RBI
Eli Boles: 5 IP, 1 ER, 5 K, 3 H, 2 BB
