HiToms Lose an Extra-Innings Heartbreaker, 11-7

HiToms Lose an Extra-Innings Heartbreaker, 11-7

After giving up 4 unearned runs in the third inning, the HiToms found themselves down to the Asheboro Copperheads 6-1. But, these HiToms, champions of the first half, didn't give up easily.

Thanks to back-to-back home runs from Austin Pharr and Jacob Whitley, the HiToms immediately made it 6-4.

Isaac Campbell heated up as his long relief appearance went on, throwing 3 perfect innings as part of a one-run, five-inning outing.

Then the HiToms were able to claw back, culminating in a Sam Taylor solo home run and a Dylan Enwiller sac fly to tied it up at 7.

Burl Carraway shut down the Copperheads in the 9th, and then after each team failed to score with 2 runners on in the 10th, the Copperheads were able to push across 4 runs in the top of the 11th after singles from Kirby Lambert, Cam Morrison and Chris Adams. It would prove too much to overcome for the HiToms, as the bats that finally came alive as the game went on were silenced.
