The first leg was a tight one at Sims Legion Park in Gastonia.
All of HPT's runs came in the 3rd. Austin Pharr hit a 2RBI double and made it from 2nd to home on a very wild pitch.
Isenhour gave up 2 solo shots, but was otherwise sharp through 4 IP.
Luke Gesell started his outing well with 2 straight K's, but was tagged with the loss, allowing 2 runs over 2 inings.
The HiToms came roaring back in the second game.
Most of the runs came in the first couple innings, 3 a piece.
Austin Pharr once again picked up a couple runs batted in on a triple, and scored on a sac fly from McLean.
Ryan Caveness broke the game open the next inning with a 2-out bases loaded single scoring Welch and Myles to make the score 6-1.
McLean demolished a baseball for good measure in the 6th to make it 7-1 where the score would stay.
Evan Estridge was dealing, going 5 innings only allowing a run on 4 hits with 6 strikeouts. His ERA shrank to 2.7 on the season and has an 11.7 K/9 rate.
Brennan Kelly cleaned up in the last couple innings, fanning 4 and only giving up one hit.
Since we had a double-header, here are some of the top performers with their combined stats on the day:
Austin Pharr 2-8, 4 RBI, 2 R
Bryce Butler 4-7, BB, 2 R
Zach McLean 3-6, 2 RBI, 2 R
