HiToms Take Down Copperheads 7-4 in First Look at Divisional Foes

Despite Asheboro's offensive onslaught, they only managed 4 runs all coming in the first 4 innings.  The Copperheads ended the game with 13 hits, 4 walks, and left 12 stranded.

That was the result of a gutty performance by the HiTom pitching staff.  Isaac Campbell held Asheboro in check early on, before Ty Reginelli and Brennan Kelly combined for 5 scoreless innings of relief.

It was never easy though, Asheboro consistenly got deep into counts and fouling off 2-strike counts  The Copperheads reached base in 7 of 9 innings.

HPT's first run of the game came from the bat of Trey Hinton, who chose a great moment to collect his first hit in the CPL in the bottom 2nd, driving in Cameron Peters with a single.

The difference once again was the long ball though, Myles Christian knotted up the game at 4 in the 6th inning with his 4th CPL blast.

After walking in 3 straight appearances, it was Jordan Howard with the dagger the next inning.  After 2 dramatic swings-and-misses, he finally got all of one and sent it over the wall, batting in Reed Massey and himself to set the score at 7-4 where it would stay.
