Eli Boles, Tyler Garam, and Tyler Holcombe combined to allow just one hit, and Myles Christian stroked his first homer of the Coastal Plain League season to propel the High Point-Thomasville HiToms to a 4-0 victory against the Martinsville Mustangs.
Boles fired in six hitless innings, struck out two, and walked just four. Garam followed with two scoreless innings and allowed the only hit of the contest, a bloop single to centerfield that barely evaded the grasp of shortstop Dillon Bowman. Two runners reach against Holcombe in the 9th, but a prompt double-play ball quickly quelled the Mustang rally.
Christian opened the scoring in the fourth by blasting a two-run shot to centerfield, scoring Bailey Welch. The Middle Tennesseee State freshman smoked two home runs in his first two at-bats in a HiTom uniform in exhibition play, before following that performance up with another home run the following night.
Greensboro College's Cameron Peters continued his hot hitting at the bottom of the High Point-Thomasville order, lacing a single back up the middle in the fifth to score Manny Lopez and give HPT a 3-0 lead.
Christian added a little insurance in the top of the 9th, hitting a ground ball single through the right side, bringing home Jordan Howard.
Myles Christian: 2-4, HR, 3 RBI, R
Cameron Peters: 2-3, RBI
Manny Lopez: 2-4, R
Jacob Whitley: 2-4
Jordan Howard: 1-4, R
Bailey Welch: 1-4, R
