Saturday's HiToms High School Classic was a smash hit! Watch the highlights below!
Game One: Ragsdale at Southwest Guilford
Southwest Guilford emerged victorious against its Guilford County rival Ragsdale 6-5 thanks to a walk-off two run home run from senior Isaiah Hairston. Hairston's blast was his second of the day, both disappearing deep over the right field wall at Historic Finch Field.
Ragsdale jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first before Hairston drew the Cowboys back within one with the first of his two homers. A SW Guilford sacrifice fly tied the game in the 4th inning before the Tigers swung the momentum back in their favor with a two-RBI single in the next half-inning.
The Cowboys tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the 5th to tie the game at four. Ragsdale retook the lead in the 6th to set the stage for Hairston's heroics.
Game Two: Wheatmore at Ledford
Ledford outlasted Wheatmore in a pitcher's duel 2-1 in game two of the High School Classic to keep the Panthers undefeated on the 2019 season. Junior Carson Shetley and senior Will Bethune combined to keep the Warriors at bay offensively throughout the afternoon. Shetley also chipped in an RBI single in the 5th inning to put Ledford up 2-0. Wheatmore got an RBI single of its own in the bottom of the 6th to add drama to the final frame before Ledford's Bethune slammed the door.
Game Three: East Forsyth at Randleman
Randleman engineered a comeback via a three-run fourth inning to defeat East Forsyth 3-1 and remain undefeated in 2019. The Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth thanks to a massive solo home run from senior Hunter Hutchens over the left field wall. Randleman loaded the bases early in the bottom of the inning and combined a single, a hit by pitch, and a wild pitch to produce its three runs.
