2019 Broadcast Production/Social Media Management Internship

 

The High Point-Thomasville HiToms are in search of a driven undergraduate college student looking for experience in sports broadcasting and marketing to join their summer internship program for the 2019 baseball season.
 
The HiToms are a summer college league baseball team that competes in the Coastal Plain League (CPL) comprised of teams from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia.
 
The intern selected would focus primarily on social media marketing and broadcast production for the HiToms. Last season, CPL and the HiToms introduced video streaming broadcasts as part of their media coverage. We chose to take this to the next level and introduce a multi-camera broadcast setup, featuring TV-style graphics and production value. We expect to only improve those measures this year.
 
The ideal candidate will:
 
1. Be pursuing a degree in journalism, communications, or related field.
2. Have some form of experience in one or more of the following areas—TV or radio broadcasting production, videography, social media management, or public relations.
3. Have some form of experience with video/photo/audio editing techniques and software (ex: Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop,, Audition, etc.).
4. Love the game of baseball and be dedicated to promoting its growth through the HiToms organization and the surrounding community.
 
Duties will include:
 
-Serving as the primary broadcast engineer and producer for HiTom home games broadcasts. This will include camera operation, sound checks, and more. On-air time could be a possibility for the right candidate.
-Cutting video highlights within games to post to social media accounts and push out to local news organizations.
-Assisting the broadcasting and media relations director with brainstorming and filming weekly videos for HiTom social media accounts.
-Managing social media accounts of the HPT HiToms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and posting daily content from HiTom games and events, including live-tweeting games and utilizing videos on all platforms.
-Travelling with the team on select road games to live-tweet and post creative and informative updates to social media accounts.
-Maintaining a working knowledge of the Coastal Plain League and its other members.

Compensation: $20 per home game (approximately 30 home games)

2019 Videography, Photography, and Creative Media Internship

 

The High Point-Thomasville HiToms are in search of a driven undergraduate college student looking for experience in sports-related videography and photography to join their summer internship program for the 2019 baseball season.

 

The HiToms are a summer college league baseball team that competes in the Coastal Plain League (CPL) comprised of teams from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia.

 

The intern selected would focus primarily on utilizing photography and videography to creatively capture the atmosphere and culture surrounding the HiToms. That includes on-field action, player/coach interactions with one another and fans, ballpark atmosphere at Finch Field, and off-the-field community activities. This position also leaves room for ample creativity – unique and fresh ideas will be strongly encouraged, as well as creativity in photo and video editing.

 

The ideal candidate will:

 

1. Be pursuing a degree in journalism, communications, photojournalism, or related field.

2. Be proficient in video/photo editing techniques and related software (ex: Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, etc.).

3. Have a working understand of fundamental videography and photography techniques (framing, lighting, etc.)

4. Love the game of baseball and be dedicated to promoting its growth through the HiToms organization and the surrounding community.

 

The selected intern is encouraged to bring a camera if he/she has access to one.

 

 

Duties will include:

 

-Serving as the team's primary photographer and videographer for all home games

-Cutting video highlights within games to post to social media accounts and push out to local news organizations

-Organizing and storing all photos and videos taken during the season for easy access during games or otherwise in order to post content on social media pages

-Assisting the broadcasting and digital media director with brainstorming and filming weekly videos for HiTom social media accounts

-Creating and editing graphics for HiToms video streaming broadcasts and HiToms social media pages

-Travelling with the team on select road games to live-tweet and post creative and informative updates to social media accounts – also would be responsible for some photo and video content if on the road

-Maintaining a working knowledge of the Coastal Plain League and its other members.

2019 Operations & Management Internship

 

The High Point-Thomasville HiToms are in search of driven undergraduate college students looking for experience in baseball operations or recreation management to join their summer internship program for the 2019 baseball season.

 

The HiToms are a summer college league baseball team that competes in the Coastal Plain League (CPL) comprised of teams from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia.

 

The intern selected would focus primarily on stadium operations, including but not limited to: promoting and selling tickets, managing concessions and merchandise inventory, scheduling workers for gamedays, and more.

 

The ideal candidate will:

 

1. Be pursuing a degree in sports management, recreation management, or other related field.

2. Demonstrate the ability to remain organized while multitasking.

3. Demonstrate the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations and to manage others well.

4. Be willing to work at times during the day, as well as all HiToms home games (approximately 30).

5. Love the game of baseball and be dedicated to promoting its growth through the HiToms organization and the surrounding community.

 

Duties could include:

 

-Organizing aspects of ticket sales for HiToms home games, including ticket printing, group packages, and more.

-Assisting in creating and display/teardown of stadium decorations and accessories

-Assisting in the restocking of the concession stands and souvenir stands

-Helping plan and execute on-field promotions

-Communicating with members of the media and marketing teams to ensure the stadium is prepared for home games

-Maintaining a working knowledge of the Coastal Plain League and its other members.
